LEAKING BATHROOM
Bathroom leakage is one of the most common and damaging issues in homes and commercial spaces. Whether it’s water seeping through floors, walls, or joints, unchecked leakage can cause damp patches, peeling paint, mold growth, and even structural deterioration. Follow these expert tips to ensure a completely waterproof and durable bathroom.
Why Bathrooms Leak
- Improper waterproofing during tiling or renovation
- Cracks in joints, corners, or plumbing areas
- Lack of waterproof coating beneath floor tiles
- Use of low-quality or incompatible materials
Steps for Successful Bathroom Waterproofing
1. Surface Preparation:
Remove old coatings, dust, and loose materials. Repair visible cracks or holes before applying any waterproofing layer.
2. Waterproof Coating Application:
Apply PLASTITE P 500, a polymer-modified flexible waterproof coating, on the floor and walls up to 1.5 ft above floor level. This creates a seamless, elastic membrane that blocks water penetration.
3. Integral Waterproofing:
For new bathrooms or fresh plaster, add LOCKDRIP L40 to cement mortar to prevent internal seepage and capillary absorption.
4. Crack & Joint Sealing:
Use ADDMORT A15L as an additive for plaster and tile adhesive in critical areas such as corners and around pipes.
5. Tiling & Finishing:
Install tiles using TILE FIX NFH adhesive for strong bonding, followed by TILE FILL WHITE for water-tight grouting.
