Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry and sound before product application.

Fresh concrete and plastered surfaces must be allowed to cure before coating, typically 28 days for poured concrete. Allow surface to dry. Apply SKOF ACRYCOTE EC 5 PRIMER at a spread rate of 90-110 sq.ft per liter per coat depending on the porosity of the concrete to ensure maximum penetration & adhesion to substrate. Allow 2-4 hrs to dry, if possible wait 24 hours before application. For sprayed plasters ensure surfaces are clean, sound and free from salts, dirt and loose concrete dust. On poured concrete, mould release agents must be removed by detergent washing, and the surface shows no trace of water repellency before applying. High-pressure water blast to remove mould, dirt, grease, chalk and other surface contaminants.

The performance and service life of a protective coating system is dependent upon a number of criteria. These criteria include factor such as choice of coating system, ambient conditions under which the system is to be applied and the standard of surface preparation to be undertaken prior to application of the paint. Of these considerations, the most important factor is in establishing and maintaining a high standard of surface preparation. Failure to ensure high standard of surface preparation will inevitably have a detrimental effect on he eventual life and performance of the coating system applied.
